Culture Shock

The photo above is depicting culture shock. Culture shock is a sense of disorientation when one enters a dramatically new cultural or social environment. Imagine you are an alien and you find yourself on Earth (or Middle Earth). You would not have the same language, greeting gestures, or social norms as the humans (or hobbits). All of the food you've eaten your whole life might not even exist. The shows you've watched, the stores you've shopped at, the very 'normal' life you once lived is gone. The radical change in your social and cultural environment would shock you.

Another way to achieve culture shock is by using something called a beginner's mind. A beginner's mind is when you try to view things without any preconceptions to gain a new insight on life. Without even knowing it, the alien has a beginner's mind. He has no preconceptions about this new world which then resulted in culture shock.
