Social Construction

Social Construction is a term used to describe something that is made up by society. Social constructions do not exist in the biological world. It is given a reality by our understanding of the construction. A good example are these Crick-Ettes, Most people from the United States would say that these are disgusting, while in other parts of the world these bugs are eaten daily. It's not a fact that bugs are nasty. It's a concept brought up and held by our society. Another example is that some countries do not eat pork and think that eating pork is disgusting, yet here it's a very normal thing to do. Different societies have different social constructions.
